It’s not just a Skyreader thing, I’ve noticed a few Discord clones store every message openly. There’s a Twitch clone that is the same way. I can watch as people chat all across Stream.place and even search the data. If you could easily search all of Twitch chat I think that would make some people sweat bullets.
I knew Bluesky was built around everything being public, but I’ll admit I had no idea it was this public until pretty recently. I’m not sure how I feel about it. I definitely don’t like it, but idk if I hate it enough to quit.
I think I have a sunk cost relationship over there. After I left Twitter I hopped Mastodon instances for a while, deleted and started over. Moved to Bluesky, deleted and started over. I don’t have the time or patience to start over from scratch on a different social network again.
I deactivate every once in a while because I want to do a trial run on quitting social media altogether, but I always end up coming back after a few days.
